Yo MacYippers!
Here we go again.
A gun nut whose internet ramblings speak of the constitutionality, or lack thereof of various items, decides there's a "second amendment remedy" (to paraphrase Sharron Angle's infamous blathering) to the life of Arizona Rep. Democrat Gabrielle Giffords.
And when I say here we go again, I'm not suggesting that all right wing gun nuts take action. Many brought guns to health care reform debates, and didn't shoot anyone. God bless restraint.
By here we go again, I mean the typical annoying dance after an incident of this type. Republicans REFUSE to take responsibility.
There was former Congressman Dick Armey, a right wing nut's right wing nut, pontificating on "This Week With George Harrison" (at least that's what she looks like to me) saying there should be no armchair analysis of this incident, that only qualified psychologists should opine.
There was George Will on the same show, querying whether this is an act of madness or politics.
In other words, let's not jump to any conclusions that overheated rhetoric like "2nd Amendment solutions" and Sarah Palin putting "Crosshairs" gun sites on maps of targeted Congressional districts... let's NEVER assume that encouraging and excusing gun nuts who bring guns to health care rallies... let's COMPLETELY REJECT the notion that their out and out nuttery encourages and enables true NUTS.
Oh no. That would be taking partial responsibility for something. And we KNOW the GOP never takes responsibility for, well, ANYTHING.
As for the mental health issue, let me first suggest to Congressman Armey, that even though we're blessed to have many competent and qualified mental health professionals, psychiatry is at best, a highly inexact science.
And by that, I mean many qualified professionals could disagree about the level of politics vs. craziness that motivated this 22 year old nut.
Secondly, OF COURSE IT'S THE MADNESS that motivated him.
But it does NOT excuse the inflamed irresponsible tea party crazies who have ratcheted up the rhetoric to the point where crazies with dangerous ideas feel justified, liberated, indeed Constitutional.
I still have no idea why all these nuts think THEY know the Constitution and nobody in Washington does. That's pretty crazy right there.
But watch over the next few days. Watch, as things calm down a little, how the GOP will take ZERO responsibility. How the Limbaughs and Hannities, who have no conscience and apparently no soul, will find ways to deflect blame.
Indeed it will become some "liberal defect" in their talking points, that only liberals would dare to suggest the absurd premise that right wing nuttery breeds violence.
Tim McVeigh. Could we please remember that before 9/11 the last big-ass terrorist act was committed by a group of right wing gun nuts who thought the government was out of control?
It would be refreshing, indeed startling, if the GOP would actually stop doing stupid things like trying to repeal health care reform, since it's NOT going to happen. They don't have the votes. And shortly after health care reform passed, someone put a bullet through Congressman Giffords' home office window.
It would be refreshing, indeed truly amazing, if they would take some responsibility. Denounce ridiculous statements like "2nd Amendment solutions." Tell that idiot Palin to not use crosshairs symbols on election maps.
Ask citizens NOT to bring loaded guns to political rallies. (Oh, my, suggest that someone leave the house without packin' a rod? Why the founding fathers would roll over in their graves, to hear the GOP nut brigade tell it).
But they won't. Take. Any. Responsibility.
Because they have no conscience (most or at least too many prominent ones anyway).
They will continue to refuse to obliterate the ridiculous notion that Obama wasn't born here. That's EXACTLY the kind of thing that fuels these nuts. Because if ANY President TRULY didn't meet the Constitutional qualifications set forth, that WOULD be an issue.
But it's a non-issue. Yet Republicans, to appeal to their nutty, not particularly bright base, will continue their era of irresponsibility and let truth be relative.
There are no facts... just innuendo.
When the CBO agrees with them, it's correct. When the CBO says health care reform will improve the deficit long term, suddenly the CBO is incorrect.
There are no truths. There's only highly inflamed irresponsible political rhetoric designed to get every paranoid nut on board and to the voting booth.
There is ZERO responsibility.
There is only the GOP. Dangerous. Fear mongering. Irresponsible. Hopeless.
This tragedy will not change that. They'll just wait 'till the dust settles and start all over again.
Ladies and gentlemen, you have every right to be disappointed by the Democratic party. Don't get me started on their faults and flaws.
But the other side is dangerous. And that's why this happened.
And you can say it's too soon to be certain of that.
I've seen enough.
IS HE A RIGHT WINGER, LEFT WINGER, OR JUST A NUT?
Here's a link debunking the completely FALSE reports that he's a lefty. Do you believe it? Right wingers made more shit up. Again, get the feather, knock me on my ass.

That Hoft would reprint the outrageous assertion that Loughner idolized Obama - based on a random commenter on a fringe message board that provided no evidence for his assertion - says a lot about his complete lack of journalistic integrity. It's also completely in character for him.
As you might have guessed by now, I think Jared Loughner is a right wing nut. Yes, mentally ill and highly disturbed, but of the right wing variety.
Perhaps I'm being redundant.
Here's one of his videos.
Here's the part of it that stuck with me:
Jared Loughner's words:
"The majority of citizens in the United States of America have never read the United States of America's Constitution. You don't have to accept the federalist laws. Nonetheless, read the United States of America's Constitution to apprehend all of the current treasonous laws. "
Hmmm. Everything's unconstitutional. Screw the feds. Sound Tea Party enough for you? Hello??????????
One more tidbit of Loughner wisdom:
The property owners and government officials are no longer in ownership of their land and their laws from a revolution.
Thus the revolutionary's (sic) from the revolution are in control of the land and laws."
Apparently everything's up for grabs. I'm takin' Target.
Final Loughtner tidbit:
"In conclusion, reading the United States Contitution, I can't trust the government because of the ratifications: The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar. "
Ah. That's why the Tea Partiers are so illiterate! It makes their minds uncontrollable! Brilliant! Method to their madness (you'll pardon the pun).
NIT PICKY SIDE NOTE
ABC's This Week with George Harrison (Christiane Amanpour) is absolutely awful. On Sunday morning's important edition (because of the breaking news) they brought George Snufolufogus back. He was in his element. She, as she is every week, was out of hers.
She's a good reporter.
She knows much about the world. Not EVERYONE who succeeds at reporting makes a good television host. She most CERTAINLY does not.
Sunday morning she was stiff, strange, and uncomfortable. This was a bad move that should be corrected immediately. We can't stand her condescension, and I even suspect that we each condescend about the same things.
I like broadcasters with attitude. She's just odd. Is the English accent supposed to be the big powerful gimmick (they are replacing Larry King with an Englishter, as Ernest T. Bass used to say)? Just because Simon Cowell is good for American Idol, does not mean Mr. Harrison is our cup of tea for what USED to be an often entertaining and informative broadcast.
Send George back to the field where she belongs.
That is all at this time.
